About the CaÑada
Population entity ofHerradon of Pinares (Avila)located at 1,390 meters above sea level, on the high plateau of Ávila, 21 kilometers from the capital. It is an arid zone, with cold winters (less and less) and temperate summers (increasingly warmer) It has a railway station, which stands out for being the passenger station built at the highest altitude on the sea level of the peninsula. Currently 413 registered people live in its 48 km2 (2020).
It is located geotectonically in the Region of the intramountainous valley of Ambles/Sierra de Ávila, a tectonic trench that begins in the town of Villatoro and gradually widens until it reaches Tornadizos de Ávila and collaterally reaches Herradón de Pinares. However, La Cañada is administratively framed within the Region of Tierra de Pinares and Valle del Alberche.
